Sabang

I went out of town this last weekend. A group of  8 of us left on Saturday morning to spend some time in Sabang. We didn't spend much money on a pretty view from our hotel because we knew we wouldn't be in it much except to sleep.
This was the little restaurant on the shore close to our hotel room.

From where I was standing to take the picture above, if I take a 1/4 turn to the left you can see down the little walkway to get to our room.

Part way down the walkway.

I am now looking back the way I came.

Looking from the base of the stairs to our room.

Up the stairs and to the right is the room I shared with Jody.

Our beautiful ocean view from the door.

This view made me laugh for some reason.

The view from the window of our room.

We met up with a friend who has volunteered at Ruel twice in the past. She works at this place as a dive instructor... I believe. : )
This sign cracked me up, I am pretty sure it is an oxymoron.

This is our friend that we met, Tanya. She is showing off a friend of hers named Becky. Becky likes to be in Tanya's hair.

We had a busy Saturday. Right off the bat we found the Garden of Eden while waiting for our lunch to finish cooking.

We rented this boat for the day to go island hopping.

One of our 2 boat guys.
(I am pretty sure that is their official title.)

I was admiring these small boats not knowing we were going to be in one very soon.

Our larger boat wasn't allowed to go into some of the areas we were going to go snorkeling in due to possible damage being done to the reefs.
I never saw any reefs so...
Anyway, here we are pulling up to another island where we ate lunch and boarded the smaller boats to go snorkeling and see an underwater cave.

First up was the underwater cave. The blue boat was the boat I was in.

We walked through some water and climbed up on this volcanic rock to get to the underwater cave.
Note to self: Do NOT fall on volcanic rock!

We climbed past this hole which looks down into the cave.

Then down the ladder into the cave.

I did not allow my camera the privilege of going into the cave as I feared for it's life if it did so. Jody carried it back to shore for me while I entered the cave and experienced the tide moving in.
Miller was in the same boat I was in so he was the subject of several pictures.
If you look behind him to the left you see the shore line, then to his right is where we walked to climb up onto the rocks.

This is the rock we climbed onto.

I love the color of the water. You don't see water that color in Kansas!

Miller in the process of getting a sunburn.

At this point we were back on the big boat again. Oh, and the snorkeling... didn't go so well.
My mask wouldn't keep the water out very well so I didn't see much.

Almost back to shore. At the center of this picture you can see a rust colored roof. Right behind the rust colored roof is a green roof, that is our hotel room.

When I got back to the hotel I realized my hands felt dry and sore. When I looked at them they almost looked like they had a rash on them. I think it was from the volcanic rock I climbed on, that or the rope I grabbed while snorkeling. It was gone by the next day.

That evening we went to White Beach so some of our group could do the Banana Boats. There were so many people at the beach, but it is summer here.

A view of the mountains from the beach.

The crazy banana boaters.

The sunset.

Can you see the moon?

It's there.

This was our drive back to Sabang.

Sunday we just hung around White Beach shopping, reading, playing UNO and other such adventures. Then we headed home around 3pm.

The end.
