V.B.S.

Our children ages 5 and up were able to attend Vacation Bible School this last week. They loved it!
They attended Monday through Friday, then on Saturday it was 'graduation'.
The children all asked me if I was coming so I could take pictures of them. How could anyone say no to that?
So here we were on Saturday morning.
They started out just like any VBS I have ever been to before with the salute to the country flag, the salute to the Christian flag, and the salute to the Bible.

This was the salute to the Bible.

The theme of the week was: Sidekicks, Real Power Comes From God Alone
(Meaning we have no power on our own, we are just the sidekicks to the REAL Super Hero, God.)
The sidekick motto: Rely on God's power! Vanquish the Hyper Villains.

The theme verse:
Psalm 147:5
"Great is our Lord and mighty in power."

They told us about the Bible stories they learned about during the week and how each story told them something about God's power.
1- God's Unlimited Power
2- God's Unfailing Power
3- God's Unshakable Power
4- God's Unbeatable Power
5- God's Unconditional Power

Miss J is holding up the God's Unshakable Power sign in the center.

Then we had some music with actions, of course, because it wouldn't be VBS without action songs.
=)
Can you spot 7 of our Ruel kids in this picture?

Our Mr. F, next to the boy with the microphone, was up there to say some memory verses. Can you see the uncertainty on his face?

When the microphone came to him he decided he couldn't do it. He pushed it away and wanted to come down. Do you remember having stage fright when you were his age? It can be pretty scary.

But with some encouragement from Ate Helen he was able to remember the verses and recite them! Way to go Mr. F!!!

Then another class got up for their music with actions. We have 3 kids in this group. We would have had more but we had 2 home sick.

The ceremony was long and some of the kids were getting restless.

Here was Mr. F again receiving his awards for Being Most Active (? =) and Best In Memory Verse in his class.

There were several awards but I didn't get pictures of them all because I got sent up on stage to place the award ribbons on the Ruel children.

This was Miss J who got the award for Most Kind in her class.

After the awards it was time for each class to come up for their certificates of achievement.

After the ceremony was finished it was time for merienda, which means a light meal.

Miss M got the award for the Most Expressive.
We all laughed because it is SOO true! You should see her singing.

Miss J

Miss A got an award for the Most Neat.

I'm sure there are many of you back home who are in the process of preparing for VBS. I hope your kids have as much fun as our kids did learning about God!
