Science Friday: Well... More Like Interesting Art Friday?

Sorry for the lack of Science Friday Posts. We have been doing things but I haven't always gotten pictures of it as I was busy helping the kids.

Here is our most recent experiment/art project.
I gave the kids toothpicks and marshmallows and let them build whatever they wanted to.

He wanted me to take this picture but he kept moving the marshmallow all over kingdom come. I finally had to hold his hand still and then the booger kept twirling the toothpick!

Then at the end I gave them marshmallows they could eat.

I think they liked this activity!

As a side note, did you notice Mr. W was there but didn't participate? He is in the blue shirt on the left side.
Would you pray for him? He had a really tough afternoon emotionally and just couldn't bring himself to join in the fun.

It is so easy to forget that each of these children here at Ruel have a deep wound in their little hearts. Each child's story is different but they are all here because of brokenness of some kind in their families.
All four of my school kids are old enough to remember life before coming to Ruel and sometimes something triggers sadness, anger, longings or other feelings.
We don't always get a glimpse of it but this day I saw W's wound.
Oh how I ached for him.

Mr.J, why is your head between the bristles of the broom? Silly boy.

The boys came up with a way to have some extra fun on the slide.

The grabbed the lid from a plastic storage container and piled on like it was a sled.

Then down they went!
