My Saturday

(warning: copious amounts of pictures ahead!)
Today I went out with several other workers from the orphanage and had a relaxing day at the falls close by. The falls aren't very big and they are mostly man made, but the water is very cold!
We rented a small jeepney for the trip. It was a bit dusty on the way up the mountain but we were all smiles... well, except when we had to close our mouths and cover our faces from the dust.

Can anyone guess the song going through my head right now?

I'll give you one hint: it's a Veggie Tales song.

When we arrived at our destination we set up our stuff in a hut and headed for the suspension bridge.

Nice thick cables holding it up.

And yes, it swings as you move along.

I felt ok with it at this point.

Midway across I stopped to take a picture.

Just after midway across I noticed this...

...and this.

But it held everyone else so I continued to the other side.

On the other side of the bridge was a Mangyan village. This was my first time to see one. Mangyans are people who live up in the mountains here on Mindoro.

Their church building.

A puppy.

Mangyan woman.

I wonder how long he will last?

One of the huts.

Rooster

Another hut.

We purchased some flavor for our water then headed back across the bridge to swim in the freezing water.

Laura, Titta and Miller
This was Laura and Titta's last day here.

Tin-Tin and some of the workers children that came with us.

The water was rather refreshing... once you got use to the temperature.

The crew having fun. In the front are Titta, Miller and Jody.

I was standing on this...

...when I took a picture of this.

This little girl is Filipino through and through! She was shy around me until she saw me with a camera, then she became all smiles!

If you didn't know, Filipinos L.O.V.E. to have their picture taken!

Waterfall fun.

Left to right: Titta, Miller, Miriam(in black & white), Laura, Tin-Tin, Gerleth, Gen, Charm, and Jody in front.

Gen & Gerleth

It was fun to wade in among the rocks.

This picture reminds me of some of my family's canoe trips in the past...
...except for the palm trees.

They went back and forth between swimming and wading.

Wading again.

A flip-flop was lost in the current but was successfully rescued!

The crew.

Our under the table friend. After lunch and another swim/wade some of us headed back home.

That's it for now.
